Our Mission and How CHAWA Was Born

CHAWA was born from a wish to carry forward Japan’s timeless tea culture — a culture not only of drinking, but of sharing, welcoming, and restoring the heart. In a fast-moving world, a single cup of tea can soften the mind and bring the body back into harmony. CHAWA embodies that quiet elegance — refined, sincere, and timeless.

The Meaning Behind “CHAWA”

The name “CHAWA” joins two characters: “Cha” (tea) and “Wa” (harmony). It reflects our belief that tea connects people — heart to heart, moment to moment. Our logo blends two timeless Japanese symbols: the Chrysanthemum, representing refinement, and the Tatami grid, symbolizing harmony and balance. At its heart lies the spirit of the Nijiiri-guchi, the small entrance to a traditional tea room. All who enter must bow — samurai or commoner alike — leaving rank and ego behind. This act of humility embodies the essence of Japanese beauty and harmony.
